Why Did I Get Married?

This is just one title of the many Tyler Perry films out there that I liked.

I appreciated seeing the REAL issues these couples had to face in their marriage; it really goes to show that life is not always a bed of roses.

When watching this film, I began to reflect upon my own reasons for getting married. So here I am; sharing them with you.

Tanika: Why Did You Get Married?

First, let me tell you why I didn't get married.

  • I didn't get married because I was lonely
  • I didn't get married for status, glamour, or fame
  • I didn't get married because I needed someone to complete me
  • And I didn't get married without God's approval.

Why I got married

  • I prayed for God's choice and He strategically brought us together.
  • I got married because God made it clear that I was Roberts perfect match /help mate
  • and I got married because I wanted God's perfect will to be done in my life.
  • I got married because he had the tell-tale signs that I was looking for.

So where is the LOVE you're probably thinking..lol
Well the LOVE was all over these four reasons. It was God's love that brought us together, His love that showed me I was his helpmate, His love that gave me my hearts desire and His love that gave me the courage to trust His choice, which became my choice, for a life-time mate. Loving Robert with this knowledge, made it easy for me to do and our love continues to grow with each passing day. We understand that marriage is bigger than us. It is God's Plan.

I am still being perfected in love. But what I know about love thus far is this, it's not a feeling that comes and goes. It is a choice that you have to make everyday. Some days we may not feel loveable or feel like loving but we are still called to LOVE. And the greatest love of all is Christ dying on the cross for you and I.  Love is not selfish it is giving, sharing, caring and forgiving.

Singles who are reading,  choose a mate that God is pleased to give you and love him/her because this is God's perfect gift, to you, from above. Write your list; we both did and leave it on the altar of God. He will bless you in the right season. And when you walk down that aisle know that troubles will come, but with God all things are possible.

IT'S NOT ABOUT US
